Joy Girls

These are my workmates with whom I work with at Joy School. Working at a cram school is not really something I enjoy (last year's kindergarten was a dream job compared to this place), but if I want to study Chinese, then for the moment, this is the best place to be.
I am not really keen on the boss nor the kids, but the one thing that I really enjoy about working here is my workmates.
These girls have made working here so much fun, plus, through them, I have learned so much about Chinese and Taiwanese culture.

As I am the only foreign teacher at the school, the girls talk most of the time in Chinese, which is a great help for me as I get to listen and learn so much. It has really helped that I can understand 'some' of what they talk about as it means we can quite often joke to each other in either language. And they love to read my Chinese homework and pass comments "Your characters looks as though they were written by a five year old" Great help!

One of the best things about these girls is that they like to eat. Everyday, we order in all kinds of dishes, from Guandong stir fry to Vietnamese noodles to Taiwanese local snacks. The other day, I was sat in the office surrounding by them chewing on chicken feet.
And because we all like to eat, we often go to restaurants and night markets in search of good food.
With their help, I have now started to phone restaurants and order the food or tea. The first time I ordered food I told the person to deliver the food to 'JiaYi'. When I got off the line, the girls were all laughing. Apparently, I had told the woman on the phone to deliver the food to JiaYi county (which is north of Tainan), not to JiaYing (Joy) school.

These pictures were taken at Area restaurant.
